Happy New Year everyone! Now that we have made it through the shopping, the baking and the parties, it is time to look forward to wedding season. The holidays are a wonderful time for people to get engaged. If you got engaged over the holidays, then congratulations!

Now you are probably thinking ahead to your wedding, and the prospect of planning is slightly overwhelming. In this post I want to address something that you may not have give any thought to as you go about your planning... scams.

The build up, the burn out and the let down

If you have planned a wedding, or if you are currently planning one, you’ll most likely understand what I am saying here. When I first started planning my wedding I was SO excited, I researched everything, I joined every possible wedding website and I kept everything wedding related. I went to the wedding expos, came home and categorized all of the business cards, brochures and goodies I got. Wedding planning became my full time hobby (not job, considering I truly enjoyed the planning process).

An investment in your memories

When someone says "investment", I bet the first thing that pops into your head is stock market or mutual fund, not family history and memories. Well, I want to briefly explain the investment that we may not always think about, the one that never loses value.

There are moments in our lives that cannot be recreated or relived, no matter how hard we try. Just think about what you are doing right now, and now that moment is gone, never to reoccur. Now, think of that moment on a larger scale, how about your senior prom? The dress you hand picked out of hundreds of dresses at the store, the flutter you had when you knew it was the dress. You probably can't tell me now which songs you slow danced to, and you maybe can't tell me where you went to dinner, but I bet you still have the photo, and looking at it brings back those memories, all of the emotions, the flutter.
